NewHanafuda.art is a website for playing Koi-Koi developed by Andre Hammons, published by FudaPop (Andre Hammons). The project was first published in 2023, and was previously known as Let’s Play! Koi-Koi before moving to a new website.
The main distinguishing feature of this video game is that it has a wide range of card designs to choose from. Making more hanafuda art available for people to play with was a major goal of the project.
The interface is available in multiple languages: English, Japanese, Polish, Russian and French.
As of early 2026 the game is single-player only, although multiplayer is planned for the future. Player rankings are available for registered users.
New card designs can be unlocked with coins earned by playing the game.
There is an option for assistive card labels, which mark each card with the month number and a single-letter abbreviation of the card rank.
The following rules are used in this game. The most distinctive features are its multipliers and Bright yaku values.
Typical values for Bright yaku are either 15, 10, 8, 6 (high values) or 10, 8, 7, 5 (low values). This game uses high values for 3 and 5 Brights, but low values for 4 Brights and Rainy 4 Brights. ↩︎
